Coimbatore city will be the next host of the prestigious AOMSI national conference from December 1st to December 4th 2010. Coimbatore, now called Kovai, is one of the largest cities in Tamilnadu and is well known for its superb health infrastructure. It has some of the most prestigious medical institutions in Southern India providing world class treatment in the field of plastic surgery, gastroenterology, orthopedics and ophthalmology.

The AOMSI conference venue is The Codissia which is a mega convention and trade centre situated in scenic surroundings with easy access from the airport and city. The conference itself has been planned to meet the varied requirements of students, surgeons and consultants. Invited speakers from India and abroad are being chosen with care to make the meeting a great learning process. New concepts will include edited video presentations of various surgical techniques by well known surgeons and didactic sessions to help the delegates interact with the doyens in their respective fields. A special trainee's night for post graduates to interact socially and exchange views has also been proposed.

The scientific programmes are being planned so that plenary sessions will not clash with delegate free papers, thereby making it meaningful for everybody concerned. The option of poster presentation is being widened to accommodate larger number of entries by both delegates as well as PG students. Other features include proposals for cadaver dissections, hands on trauma skills session for post graduates and debates on controversies. A Pre and post conference 5 day hands on animal lab workshop/training in micro vascular surgery at the prestigious Ganga Hospital is also being considered.

We hope to establish the Coimbatore conclave as a bench mark conference making it a unique opportunity for the maxillofacial fraternity to indulge in work and pleasure. The registration fees have not been increased keeping in mind the sentiments of the members. Fine hotels are available at affordable prices if you register early enough.
